The Glens Falls Kennel Club, Inc. (GFKC) will be celebrating its sixtieth anniversary in 2023. It was started by a group of dog lovers whose primary interest at that time was obedience. Sadly, none of our charter members are still with us, but we have now grown to 76 active members from around the region whose interests vary from loving their pet dog to competing in all types of dog sports. Members’ sports interests include conformation, obedience, rally, agility, Speedway, barn hunt, lure coursing and Fast Cat. We have AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluators and a Therapy Dog International Evaluation among our members. The club supports active participation of our companion animals in therapy dog programs. Each year we host two all-breed conformation shows (one with an accompanying obedience and rally trial), four rally trials, three agility trials, and are beginning to host Speedway trials. The GFKC encourages good sportsmanlike competition for all dog/handler teams at shows and events.
Meetings are held the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm in our Training Center at 474 Corinth Road, Queensbury. They are open to members and prospective members.
This is a great time to meet members and get a sense of the activities the club is involved with. Because of the broad scope of our events, there are many ways to be active within the GFKC.
